History: The history of this inland community along the Trinity river has been dominated by settlements of Native Americans for centuries. The site became known to the west during explorer Jedediah Smith's trek west in 1828. It was a site vital to miners and was first known as China Flat - reflecting the predominate ethnicity of the area's miners.
Today: Willow Creek is a favorite place to summer sun seekers and is considered the "Bigfoot Capital".
